A free Ferry service runs from the park’s Visitor’s Center on the half hour every hour. You must pick up a free boarding pass in order
to ride the ferry. We reached out to the park and was advised that “…we do not allow the public use the park dock facilities. They are welcome to bring a dingy up onto the east shore of the river and obtain a boarding pass at our Visitor Center during park hours. … We also request that boaters stay 50 ‘ away from our Visitor Center dock, in other words, north of the rock jetty just north of our Visitor Center dock and south of the closest rock jetty south of the Visitor Center dock.”
Ft. Matanzas was built by the Spanish in the mid 1700’s to defend against a possible British invasion of St. Augustine.
